Pre Order iPhone 5 October 7th [Prediction]

October 1st, 2011

Alright folks, Tuesday is the big day for the Apple iPhone 5 keynote speech.  Are as excited as I am about the pending launch?

There’s been an abundance of talk about the upcoming iPhone 5 event that’s being held on the Apple campus in Cupertino, California.  News is flying out everywhere you turn.  What’s not being talked about too much however is when we can actually pre order the iPhone 5.

My iPhone 5 Pre Order Prediction

With the iPhone 5 event happening on Tuesday October 4th, and with an estimated release date of October 14th, my best guess is that iPhone 5 pre orders will open up this coming Friday, October 7th.

Why do I believe iPhone 5 pre orders will occur on October 7th?

Simple really.  The iPhone 5 keynote goes down on the 4th, and stores are expected to have the new device on the shelves by the 14th.  Look at the calendar and pick a day when you think would be best to open pre orders and I believe the obvious date is October 7th.

So there we have it folks.  Just remember, when pre orders for the iPhone 5 open up on October 7th, you heard it here first!

iPhone 5 Keynote Made Official By Apple Invites

September 27th, 2011

It’s now official folks, Apple is starting to send out invites to the October 4 event that is expected to be the platform upon which Apple announces the iPhone 5, and perhaps even an iPhone 4s that is the cheaper brother to the iPhone 4.  Reports have been flying around the web today about media outlets receiving the official invite to the October 4th event.

The Apple press conference will be held at the Cupertino, California campus at 10:00 a.m. PST, which is 1:00p.m. EST.  The event is typically held in the Moscone Center in San Francisco.  However, for reasons yet unknown, Apple has decided to run the event from the Apple campus in Cupertino.

Media outlets have been receiving little more than an image as an announcement to the event on October 4th and here it is:

iPhone 5 Keynote Speech To Be Held At Apple HQ, Not YBCA

September 26th, 2011

The iPhone 5 keynote speech on October 4th has been perhaps the most anticipated keynote address of any Apple product to date.  But this keynote speech is reportedly going to break a long standing Apple tradition.

Instead of being held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA), or as part of Macworld or WWDC at San Francisco’s Moscone Center, the iPhone 5 keynote speech is reportedly going to be held right at the Apple HQ in Cupertino, California, according to reports from All Thing’s D and Mashable.

Of course, Apple is keeping everything about the upcoming iPhone 5 under tight wraps, not allowing any information to leak.  So none of this can definitively be confirmed.

So why would Apple make a change in venue for the iPhone 5 keynote speech?

Perhaps it’s because of the change of command at the CEO position.  As you know, Steve Jobs stepped down as Apple’s CEO and Tim Cook is now at the helm.  So maybe Mr. Cook just prefers to be closer to home for his first keynote speech.

Maybe it’s because Cupertino is able to facilitate a faster WiFi connection than the YBCA, allowing bloggers to stream information out to the web faster as the even unfolds.

Or maybe it’s a reflection of Apple’s success.  Apple no longer needs to rent out facilities in order to host a keynote speech.  And the iPhone 5 keynote speech is a representation of the prosperity that has founds it’s way into the Cupertino campus.

Whatever the case maybe, and regardless of where the iPhone 5 keynote speech goes down, one thing is for sure.  Apple will still garner billions of dollars in free advertising and promotion through bloggers like myself and other sites that I’ve already mentioned.  And when it comes time for the actually iPhone 5 keynote speech, the entire world will be watching.  Then, when the iPhone 5 officially launches, we’ll more than likely see instant sell outs globally, and mayhem will unfold surrounding Apple’s latest iPhone 5 device.

iPhone 5 Keynote Hitting October 4, But Production Lags

September 22nd, 2011

More prominent publications are out today confirming the iPhone 5 keynote event will be held on October 4th.  The keynote event will be led by Apple’s newly appointed CEO Tim Cook.  And reports are that Mr. Cook will be accompanied by other Apple executives on stage as the team presents the new iPhone 5.

With the iPhone 5 keynote event happening on October 4th, this means the release date will be at least two weeks later.  This makes a release date for the iPhone 5 somewhere around October 18th, and that’s if there isn’t a pre sale period.

All of this tells me that production for the iPhone 5 is lagging and manufacturers are already having a hard time keeping up.  Perhaps Apple has reasoned that by delaying the iPhone 5 launch by even two weeks could dramatically improve the supply side of the iPhone 5.

Regardless of when the iPhone 5 release actually occurs, with production lagging without the device even being released yet, means that whatever supply is available upon release will likely evaporate overnight.  Predictions are out that the iPhone 5 supply issues won’t be fully resolved until sometime in 2012.

The iPhone 5 keynote is gearing up to be one of the most anticipated keynote deliveries in the history of the iPhone.  The pent up energy surrounding the iPhone 5 is a direct result of the delayed release of the device, and also the mysterious rumors about a completely new design.

Typically, a new iPhone would be released by June.  And whether it’s been production issues, design issues, or perhaps even Steve Jobs’ illness, the iPhone 5 is, by all measures, late to the market.

Another huge energy factor surrounding the iPhone 5 is the highly anticipated new design of the device.  The upcoming iPhone 5 is reportedly thinner, lighter, faster, and has a larger front screen than the previous iPhone models.

iPhone 5 Keynote Speech May Be October 4th

September 21st, 2011

A couple of new sources are out this morning reporting that the iPhone 5 keynote speech could happen on October 4th.  This debunks the previous date of a September 21st iPhone 5 keynote speech, and brings a whole new perspective on the timeline of when Apple will finally release their latest “magical” iPhone.

With an iPhone 5 keynote unleashing on October 4th, it is highly unlikely now that we’ll see a pre-release / pre-order date of September 30th.  And it also eludes to the fact that Apple is more than likely struggling more than anyone previous knew with their production line.

Reports have been rampant lately about Apple being behind in their production of the iPhone 5.  And with the device not even being released yet, this spells trouble for the supply side of the iPhone 5 once it is finally released.

The iPhone 5 keynote will be featuring newly crowned Apple CEO Tim Cook who took over the company when Steve Jobs stepped down last month.  Tim Cook will have center stage, with all eyes on him and the massive, pent up anticipation of the iPhone 5.

We’ll keep you posted as we get more information about on the iPhone 5 keynote speech.

Chart Shows ‘iPhone 5′ Beating ‘iPhone 4′ In Search Volume

September 13th, 2011

Just to give you a sense of the popularity of the iPhone 5, I decided to put together a little chart showing search volume for the phrases “iphone 5″ versus “iphone 4″.  This is quite simple to do actually with Google’s insight tool.  But what’s interesting in the chart is that monumental increase in search volume for the iPhone 5 over that past several months.

I’ve created two charts below comparing the search volume to the “iphone 5″ and the “iphone 4″.  The first chart gives you the perspective of the past 12 month.

“iphone 5″ vs “iphone 4″ search volume – past 12 months

As you can see in the chart below, search volume for the “iphone 4″ has been steady, and perhaps even declining slightly.  Whereas the “iphone 5″ search traffic starts off nominal, then explodes onto the scene around the end of July, beginning of August.  Check it out:

“iphone 5″ vs “iphone 4″ search volume – past 90 days Over the past 90 days, you can see where the “iphone 5″ search traffic exploded past the “iphone 4″ right around August 10th.  And you can see the “iphone 5″ search volume is continuing to climb steadily.  There will most certainly be another huge spike in “iphone 5″ search traffic right around the time the iPhone 5 keynote speech takes place, when the iPhone 5 pre orders are released, and again when the retail doors open officially for iPhone 5 sales.  Here’s the 90 day chart:

Apple’s iPhone 5 Keynote Speech Set For Sept. 21?

September 10th, 2011

It’s clear by now that the iPhone 5 is on the way.  Most rumors and speculation put the pre-sale launch happening on September 30th with the flood gates, I mean sales, opening up on October 7th, 2011.

The only element missing from the iPhone 5 release date rumors is when will Apple have their iPhone 5 keynote speech?  This is the same keynote speech that top online publishers will receive an invite to, and it’s always in San Francisco.  These keynotes are the first phase in any major Apple release, and it’s can be expected that the iPhone 5 will be no different.

The folks over at iFan.com have come up with their own iPhone 5 keynote prediction by piecing together some interesting facts about Apple’s current product offering, and the historical trends set by Apple with previous keynotes.

Here’s the iPhone 5 keynote prediction from iFan.com:

We’re taking our best guess and pegging the iPhone 5 keynote as Wednesday, September 21 at 10:00 AM PST inside the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. For starters, the iPhone 5 has been widely speculated to launch on October 7th, which falls within the “first week of October“—the week in which Best Buy claimed an iPhone would launch in a leaked internal document. A September 21 keynote would fall two weeks ahead of the early October launch, which would give enough time for Apple to accept preorders—which 9to5Mac claimed would begin on Sep 30—for the smartphone and prep the device with the final version of iOS 5.

Apple promised that iOS 5 would debut “this Fall,” and September 21 would mark the beginning of that season in particular for us folks in the Northern Hemisphere. It also helps that September 21 falls on a Wednesday, as Apple seemingly plans their media events to take place midweek. Furthermore, the final day for Apple’s back to school promotion, which gives students and faculty a $100 gift card for buying a Mac, ends on September 20th—just one day before what could be the iPhone 5 keynote.
