iPhone 5 To Launch In China & U.S. Simultaneously

September 15th, 2011

News was out on Wednesday that China Telecom, China’s third largest telecommunications provider, is in deep preparation for Apple’s new iPhone 5 to arrive.  What’s most interesting however is the time frame that China Telecom is working off for the iPhone 5.

According to reports, China Telecom is preparing for iPhone 5 pre orders to occur at the end of September and the iPhone 5 to launch officially something during to the first part of October.

Wait a minute, isn’t that the same time line as the United States’ iPhone 5 launch?

So if the reports are accurate, we’re now talking about a global launch of the iPhone 5 where the same time frame spreads from the U.S. and into China.  Could it also be the case that the iPhone 5 is going to launch at the same time in Europe?

Not only is China Telecom getting ready for the iPhone 5 to launch at the same time it will launch in the U.S., but telecom giant is already training staff for the arrival of the iPhone 5, and has an allocated $235 million USD advertising campaign set aside to promote the new device.

Folks, is seems that with the iPhone 5, Apple’s logistics have improved greatly over the past several years.  It used to be, like with the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, that the device would launch first in the U.S., then slowly open up to the global stage.  And even with that schedule unfolding, Apple would struggle endlessly to keep up with supply and demand.

Even as the previous iPhone devices would open up to the international community, Apple continued to struggle with supply here in the U.S.  But it sounds like the iPhone 5 launch is going to be totally different.

Not only are we talking about the iPhone 5 launching internationally at the same time it launches here in the United States, but the iPhone 5 is set to launch at multiple phone carriers.

You’ll see the iPhone 5 being sold, here in the U.S., at Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and more than likely in Best Buy stores as well since Best Buy is expected to be selling the device on behalf of Sprint.

So looking at the overall picture, we see a much more established logistical system in place for the iPhone 5 launch.

iPhone 5 Is Set To Hit China

September 14th, 2011

Perhaps I need to stand corrected on my prediction of where the iPhone 5 is coming first.  I mentioned that the iPhone 5 would release first online with pre-orders, than physically in the United States, and then globally.  But there’s news out today that China Telecom, China’s third largest mobile phone provider, is already advertising the iPhone 5.

According to the reports, China Telecom is preparing store employees to start taking pre orders of the iPhone 5 at the end of September.  This is right in line with the September 30th date that we expect iPhone 5 pre orders to occur in the United States.

With China taking pre orders for the iPhone 5 at the end of September, and orders opening up mid October, the international timeline is no different than the U.S. timeline for the iPhone 5.

China Telecom, being the third largest telecom provider in China, is already bigger than Verizon Wireless, and expects to sell more than one million iPhone 5′s by the end of 2011.  The China telecom giant is also prepared to offer substantial subsidies to customers who desire to own an iPhone 5.  All of which is being driven by CT’s estimated $235 million (USD) marketing campaign for the iPhone 5.

Global demand is expected to explode past all previous models of the iPhone.  Foxconn, Apple primary manufacturer for the iPhone 5, is already pumping out 150,000 iPhone 5 devices per day – that’s right, per day – in preparation for the massive global demand.
